Community Wildlife conservation & NRM;
Community and SKIDO have taken many initiatives regarding Community Wildlife Conservation. Khyber is one of the Pioneers in Community Wildlife Conservation. Along with conservation, Natural Resource Management remains one of key consideration. This includes land development, irrigation water channel, orchard development, afforestation and numerous other initiatives.
Social & Economic Development;
For economic development, SKIDO along with other institution in the village has taken initiatives to accelerate economic activities in the villages. This includes establishment of Cooperative society and acquiring income generation projects. Beside economic development, education and health are the key indicators of social development. In this regard, SKIDO’s initiatives include awarding scholarships to needy but on merit students of the village and ECD Centre establishment and teacher’s support.
Women empowerment;
SKIDO believes that women development and economic empowerment is the key to inclusive development. For this reason, an organization Rural Women Vocational Women Organization was established in 2018. The basic objective of this Centre is to give a platform to women of Khyber to get training in different vocational skills. Along with trainings, the center’s purpose is to develop and flourish the skills, so as to make them part of the economic stream at the household level. Currently the center’s members are developing handicraft products for marketing it to the tourists, whose influx are high in summer season.
Capacity building & Skill Development;
The development of skills can contribute to economic growth by enhancing income generation and employment. Therefore SKIDO is keen in development skills of different segment which include youth, women, differently-abled and others.
Youth Development:
Youth development and inclusion of youth in village development initiative is key to our development. SKIDO’s vision is to create safe spaces for youth to play and learn; leading to healthier lives and develops leadership and decision-making skills.
Sports & Recreational Activities:
Like culture and art, recreation, leisure and sports activities play an important role in communities. Their many benefits include improving the health and well-being of individuals, contributing to the empowerment of individuals, and promoting the development of inclusive communities. SKIDO is keen to develop this area further, so as to promote healthy environment in the village.
