Initiated by Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, in 1987, the Heifer projectwas extended to Khyber-Hunza. Fresian-Sahiwal crossbred milch cows were given to interested household. The basic objective was to alleviate poverty high milk products and by-product sale and this project was a success and significantly contributed in household income.
In 1983-4, with the support of Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, irrigation channel project in Karimabad-Khyber was completed. Through this project land development and substantialafforestation was done.
In 1990 for storage of Agriculture cash commodities, Potato seed store/warehouse was constructed with the support of Government Agriculture Department.
In 1995, IUCN extend support on construction for construction of irrigation channel under which thousands of land comes under cultivation and there is a significant increase in afforestation.
In 1995 SKIDO & SKIWO for promoting sports & recreational activities, a common community land was allocated for sports activities in the village. Later the first ever Sports League for organization for both girls and boys in 2016 and 2017. Subsequent sports events are held at village and regional and Gilgit-Baltistan level.
In 1996, with the support of Government of Gilgit-Baltistan, a drinking water project was awarded and completed. Now the Khyber Village inhabitants have access to clean drinking water at their doorsteps.
In 2000, Zertperyen irrigation channel was constructed with the support of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund.
Establishment of the Khyber Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Ltd in 2016. Though this initiative on yearly basis and a significant number of villagers are supported with their business initiation, expansion and growth.
Establishment of Rural Women Vocational Women was established in 2018. The basic objective of this vocational Centre is to give a platform to women of Khyber to get training in different vocational skills. Along with trainings, the centre’s purpose is to develop and flourish the skills, so as to make them part of the economic stream at the household level.
In 2019-19, WWF and ICIMOD implemented its water resource management intervention in Khyber. The purpose of this project was to let the community know about the different types of irrigation and how to save and manage water resources.
SCO Cellular Network & Cellular Services was extended to Khyber village through SCOM. Now the community is globally connected and Students & self-employer are getting benefit from this avenue.
In collaboration with Snow Leopard Foundation, 200 animals were vaccinated in the village. The Foundation also support in restoration of a channel (Tapop Channel). Further in order to save the animal from predators in the pasture, two predator proof corals were constructed in pastures (Kundoring & Diyor).
Establishment of offices for Village institution was inevitable for meetings, trainings, events and community Programmes and consultations. So under a single premise, all the officesare operational, including SKIDO.
